A variable speed drive controls the speed of an electric motor by adjusting the frequency and voltage of the current supplied. It enables energy-efficient operation and soft start/stop of motors.
By adjusting the frequency, a motor can be run at variable speed and torque - this is particularly useful in applications such as pumps, fans, conveyors and compressors.
