Generators

We supply generators for industry and marine. Our generators come from Mecc Alte which is one of the leading manufacturers in the world of synchronous generators. Mecc Alte offers a wide range from small 2 pole generators to larger 4 pole generators. We stock up to 680 kVA but there are from 1.2 kVA to 2500 kVA.

Mecc Alte 3-phase and 1-phase generators

Simple design combined with proper sizing of components makes this a highly durable and reliable generator.

MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION
The stator and bearing shields are made of aluminum. The rotor shaft is made of C50 steel. Ventilation is provided by a fan on the rotor shaft. Enclosure class IP23 as standard; IP44 is available upon request. The generators are equipped with permanently lubricated bearings, type 6205 2RS at the front and 6203 2RS at the rear. The generators are delivered unpainted.

INSULATION
The generators are rated to insulation class H. All windings are impregnated with epoxy resin.

VOLTAGE REGULATION
The T-generators are regulated by a compound system and are equipped with brushes. Voltage accuracy is ±5 percent from no-load to full load with a power factor of 0.8–1 and a speed variation of 4 percent. The voltage can be adjusted by changing the air gap in the transformer. If the rated load is connected while the generator is running unloaded, the transient voltage drop is less than eight percent and the recovery time is less than 0.1 seconds. The control ensures that, regardless of speed, the magnetizing current can never reach a level that could be harmful.

OVERLOAD
The permitted overload is 380 percent for 20 seconds and 10 percent for one hour every six hours.

RADIO INTERFERENCE
The generators comply with VDE 0875 Class G and MIL-I-169-10A. Interference filters compliant with VDE Class K and MIL-STD-461-AB, as well as other standards, are available upon request.

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT
The T16 and T20 generators are available in the desired voltages and with a built-in rectifier bridge for 12-volt battery charging.

Mecc Alte S16F Industrial Alternator

The BTP3 series is built according to international standard IEC 34-1. It has high motor starting capacity and good 1-phase performance. Delta-coupled, it can deliver 70 percent of the 3-phase power in 1-phase. The winding is of the step-shortened type.

MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION
The stator housing is made of steel and the bearing shields of aluminum. The rotor shaft is made of C50 steel. The rotor is made of laminated steel with pronounced poles for optimal waveform. The two-pole version also features a damping cage to improve the waveform. Ventilation is provided by an aluminum fan mounted on the rotor shaft. Enclosure class IP23 as standard; IP44 and IP45 are available upon request. Pre-lubricated ball bearings, type 6308 2RS at the front and 6305 2RS at the rear. The generators are delivered with a primer coat.

The generators are rated to insulation class H. All windings are impregnated with epoxy resin.

VOLTAGE REGULATION
The BTP3 series is compound-regulated and equipped with brushes. The control system is powered by an auxiliary winding located in the stator, in phase with the main winding. The magnetizing current that generates the no-load voltage is determined by the number of turns in the transformer’s primary winding and by the transformer’s air gap. The transformer’s secondary winding is in series with the main winding and provides the necessary magnetizing current to keep the full-load voltage nearly constant. Voltage accuracy is ±4% from no-load to full load with a speed variation of 4% and balanced load. The no-load voltage can be adjusted by ±10% by changing the air gap in the transformer. If the rated load is connected while the generator is running unloaded at rated speed, the transient voltage drop is less than nine percent and the recovery time is less than 0.1 seconds.

The permissible overload is 300 percent for 20 seconds, 50 percent for two minutes, and 10 percent for one hour every six hours.

ECP3 Mecc Alte BTP3 Industrial Alternator

ECP3 generators are brushless with electronic voltage regulation. They are highly reliable due to careful design and dimensioning of components. This also applies to the electronic voltage regulator, which was designed after many years of research in this field. The ECP3 has a high motor starting capacity. It also has a sustained short-circuit current of over 300% of the rated current. The ECP3 is available in two- and four-pole versions and can be used for 50 and 60 Hz.

The ECP3 series is equipped with a DSR-type electronic voltage regulator. The voltage accuracy is ±1% regardless of power factor and with a speed variation of -15% to +30% of the rated speed. The voltage can be adjusted by changing the setting on the potentiometer on the voltage regulator or on a separate 100 kΩ potentiometer connected to the voltage regulator. The ECP3 can also be equipped with a DER1-type regulator (see description of the ECO/ECP type). If the load is connected while the generator is running unloaded and at rated speed, the transient voltage drop is less than 15 percent and the recovery time is less than 0.2 seconds to a maximum deviation of ±3% from the nominal voltage.

Mecc Alte ECP3 Industrial Alternator

ECSO generators are designed to provide the highest performance in several areas: extremely high engine starting capability through a 3-phase compound control system combined with the highly accurate AVIR electronic voltage regulator. This AVIR can easily be retrofitted to an ECSO generator. This dual control system is patented. ECSO's are brushless with rotating fields, pronounced poles, damping cage and step-shortened winding. They can be used 1-phase or 3-phase 50 and 60 Hz. The dual control system provides additional operational reliability. If the electronic voltage regulator fails, the compound system automatically takes over the regulation. The AVIR regulator also protects against underspeed by reducing the voltage in relation to the speed. The ECSO series complies with international standard IEC 34-1.

MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION
A steel stator housing and cast iron bearing shields ensure a robust yet lightweight generator. The rotor shaft is made of C50 steel. IP21 protection class is standard, except for sizes 28 and 32, which come with IP23 as standard. IP44 is available upon request. The generators are delivered with a primer coat.

VOLTAGE REGULATION
The control circuit is powered by an auxiliary winding located in the stator, approximately in phase with the main winding. The magnetizing current for the no-load voltage is determined by the transformer’s primary winding and by the transformer’s air gap. The transformer’s secondary winding is connected in series with the main winding and provides the necessary magnetizing current required to maintain a nearly constant output voltage. With the compound system, a voltage accuracy of ±4 percent is achieved with a power factor between 0.8 and 1 and a speed variation of 4 percent. With the AVIR regulator connected, a voltage accuracy of ±1.5 percent is achieved with a power factor between 0.8 and 1 and a speed variation of -10 percent to +30 percent. With the compound system, the no-load voltage can be adjusted by ±10 percent by changing the air gap in the transformer. With the AVIR regulator connected, the voltage can be adjusted using the trimmer potentiometer on the regulator or an external potentiometer. If the rated load is connected while the generator is running unloaded, the transient voltage drop is less than 11 percent and the recovery time is less than 0.15 seconds. With the AVIR regulator connected, the recovery time is even shorter.

OVERLOAD
The permissible overload is 300% for 20 seconds, 50% for two minutes, and 10% for one hour every six hours. It is possible to run two generators of the same type and power in parallel by connecting the generators’ excitation windings in parallel. When the AVIR is engaged, a parallel connection device is required.

Mecc Alte ESCO Industrial Alternator

ECO generators are the result of years of research and experience. They guarantee a sustained short-circuit current above or equal to three times the rated current. The winding is of the step-shortened type to minimize harmonics. The ECO series complies with international standard IEC 34-1.

MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION
The steel stator housing and cast iron bearing shields ensure a robust yet lightweight generator. The rotor shaft is made of C50 steel. IP21 protection rating is standard, except for size 28, where IP23 is standard. IP44 is available upon request. The generators are delivered with a primer coat. The terminal box on the ECO32 is available in a high or low version.

INSULATION
The generators are designed to meet Insulation Class H. Rotating parts are impregnated with epoxy resin. The stator is vacuum-impregnated.

VOLTAGE REGULATION

The ECO model is equipped with an electronic voltage regulator. Sizes 28–38 come standard with a DSR regulator. Sizes 40–46 come standard with a DER1 regulator. The regulators are interchangeable.

DSR
This controller is an advanced digital electronic controller with single-phase sensing. The controller features undervoltage protection with an adjustable threshold, adjustable overload protection with a delay, a switch for 50 and 60 Hz, a potentiometer for adjusting stability, and the ability to connect an external potentiometer to adjust the voltage. Using an external communication card, the regulator can be connected to a PC. You can then change settings, view the current status, and download an alarm list.

DER1
The DER1 controller is an evolution of the DSR controller. It supports both 3-phase and 1-phase detection and features an LED for self-diagnostics that indicates the current operating status.
The voltage accuracy is ±1 percent regardless of power factor and with a speed variation of -10 percent to +30 percent. The voltage can be adjusted by ±5 percent using a potentiometer on the regulator. An external 100 kΩ potentiometer can also be connected for voltage adjustment. If the rated load is connected while the generator is running unloaded and the speed is constant, the transient voltage drop is less than 15 percent, and the recovery time to ±3 percent voltage deviation is less than 0.3 seconds. The regulators are supplied as standard with Mecc Alte’s well-known MAUX system. As an option, generators in sizes 38–46 can be equipped with PMG.

PARALLEL OPERATION
The ECO model can operate in parallel with both ECO generators and other generators, as well as in parallel with the utility grid, provided they are equipped with a suitable parallel connection device, which is available upon request for capacities up to 350 kVA and is standard for capacities of 400 kVA and above. If the generator is to operate in parallel with the grid, an electronic power factor regulator, PFR 96/1, can be connected.

Mecc Alte ECO Industrial Alternator

Single-phase brushless alternators are highly reliable and maintenance-free as they have no brushes. They are carefully designed to allow easy assembly with the drive motor. The generators are designed according to international standard IEC 34-1.

MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION
The bearing shields are made of aluminum and the rotor shaft of C45 steel. Ventilation via a fan on the rotor shaft. Enclosure class IP21. An accessory is available for IP23. Pre-lubricated ball bearings, type 6203 2RS. A shaft adapter for conversion to the B34 two-bearing design is available.

INSULATION
The generators are rated to insulation class H. All windings are impregnated with epoxy resin.

VOLTAGE REGULATION
Voltage regulation is achieved through an auxiliary winding that is phase-shifted relative to the main winding. The auxiliary winding is loaded by a capacitor. Rectification of the induced voltage in the rotor, which is a function of the load current, provides effective self-regulation. The transient voltage drop is less than 10% when full load is connected, and the recovery time is less than 0.1 seconds. The self-regulation ensures that the generator is not damaged during operation at too low a speed.

OVERLOAD
The permissible overload is 10% for one hour every three hours.

RADIO CONTROL
The generators comply with Directive 89/336 on electromagnetic compatibility. Interference filters in accordance with VDE 0875, Class K. Other standards are available upon request.

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT
Ecologizer: The Ecologizer is an add-on that reduces the drive motor's RPM when no power is being drawn. This naturally reduces fuel consumption and the engine's noise level.

Extra control panel: This can contain various accessories as desired, such as start key, electrical outlets, overload switch, ecologizer, voltmeter and any relays.

RCM ELECTRONIC VOLTAGE REGULATOR
Mecc Alte has developed a patented electronic voltage regulator for capacitor-regulated single-phase generators. The regulator provides excellent voltage stability regardless of speed variations, load, and temperature.

Mecc Alte S16W Portable Alternator

The S16F and S20F are 1-phase brushless generators. They have high reliability and are maintenance-free as they have no brushes. They are designed according to international standard IEC 34-1.

Mecc Alte has developed a patented electronic voltage regulator for capacitor-regulated single-phase generators. The regulator provides excellent voltage accuracy regardless of speed variations, load, and temperature.

Mecc Alte S16F Portable Alternator

VOLTAGE
The standard voltage is 400 V 3-phase and 230 V 1-phase. If you require other voltages, these can be supplied upon request. 1-phase capacitor-regulated generators have two 115 V windings and can therefore be center-grounded.
