Worm gears (SB)

A worm gear has an input shaft in the form of a steel screw that drives a bronze wheel. A worm gear is always an angular gear—the output shaft runs perpendicular to the input shaft. The gear ratio is normally between 1:5 and 1:100. Two worm gears can be connected to form a double worm gear for a very high gear ratio.

Helical gearboxes (CMG) and bevel gearboxes (CMB)

A gear reducer has one or more stages, with two gears per stage, and is available in straight, bevel, and worm gear configurations. A single-stage gear reducer typically provides a reduction ratio of up to 1:7. A two-stage gear reducer provides a ratio of up to 1:50, and a three-stage gear reducer provides a ratio of up to 1:350.

Variable-speed drives and small gear motors

Variators enable stepless speed control without the need for a frequency converter. Small gear motors are complete units that combine a motor and a gearbox in a compact design.

Busck

Busck is an extremely affordable worm gear designed for normal operating conditions. Gear housings in sizes SB025–SB090 are made of aluminum, while sizes SB110–SB150 feature cast iron gear housings. SB040, 050, 063, and 090 are typically in stock, even with a stainless steel hollow shaft and food-grade oil. Dimensions comply with industry standards. Gear ratios of 1:5 and higher.

There is also a large selection of accessories such as flanges, torque arm, single and double shafts. Normally from stock. For larger quantities, delivery time is approximately twelve weeks.

The Busck CMG Busck is a very affordable gear reducer.

Thanks to the fact that the feet and flanges are screwed into the gear housing, it is easy to customize the gear to your liking. Gear housing and motor flange are made of die-cast aluminum. Foot and output flange are made of cast iron. The gears are ground for quiet and smooth running. The gears are lifetime lubricated on delivery.

Busck aluminum gearboxes are filled with VG 320 synthetic oil. The same amount of oil applies to all configurations (mounting options).

Variator type VB is available in three sizes for motor sizes 63, 71 and 80. Compared to a frequency control, the variator has the advantage that the torque increases when the speed is reduced. The variator is normally connected to a worm gear to obtain the desired speed range.

A variator should be started up carefully and run in. Do not load with maximum load to start with. The speed of the variator may only be adjusted when the variator is spinning.

Busck gear motors are affordable.

Dimensions comply with industry standards. The AC motors are available in sizes 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, with power ratings ranging from 6 to 200 W.
The single-phase motors we stock come standard with thermal protection built into the winding.

  • All shafts in the gearbox are ball-bearing mounted
  • Up to 10 Nm in torque
  • Gear ratio 3-250:1
  • Sizes 3, 4 and 5 are kept in stock.

Motor 5IK60 is with cooling fan, other sizes without cooling fan. The motor designations stand for the following:

  • C=1-phase 230 V
  • S=3×400 V
  • U=3×230 / 400 V

Busck CMB-type Busck is fully interchangeable with Busck SB-type Busck . Unlike a worm gear, this gear provides excellent efficiency. This means that you can sometimes use a smaller motor size while still achieving the same torque on the output shaft/hollow shaft. Furthermore, the maximum torque the gear can handle is higher than that of a corresponding worm gear. The difference increases with higher gear ratios.

Comparison of, for example, SB063 with CMB0633 at gear ratio 80 and service factor 1 shows that the spur gear can handle 250 Nm while the worm gear can handle 122 Nm. The gears are lifetime lubricated with fully synthetic oil (viscosity VG 320) on delivery. Smaller numbers normally from stock of CMB402, CMB502, CMB603 and CMB903.
